Chaff Releases During Military Excercises in North Florida 
This image is from the National Weather Service in Jacksonville, Fla. The arrows pointing to the narrow bands of radar echoes in the blue and green shadings are chaff. Chaff are small pieces of aluminum which are released by military aircraft for self-defense to avoid radar detection.
